After years of autonomy, an alien species called the Yu'Nyun has invaded and wrested control of a planet from its natural inhabitants. Using the combined pressures of their own bureaucratic prowess and the brute strength of their primate slaves, the Yu'Nyun have exploited the existing political system and put themselves in power.

The only natives to live any semblance of a pre-invasion lifestyle are the miscreants, smugglers and mercenaries that operate outside any legal process. Their ability to transport the staples of life outside the boundaries of Yu'Nyun control, combined with the convenient deaths of many of the aliens that they run into, have made them the single lifeline of the planet's rightful citizens.

The irony of this unlawfully borne respect from their helpless fellows does not escape Talis, captain of the Riptide, or her crew. Not appreciative of their heroic portrayal, their only aim is to keep one step ahead of the Yu'Nyun.

Unfortunately for the crew of the Riptide, destiny is always ready to throw a wrench into the simplest of plans.

Native was conceived of in mid-2003 by artist and author R. Korol. Work has continued on the project around the author's full-time work schedule and shares time with her other hobbies.

The story could be most-accurately classified as Science Fiction, as it involves a wide range of less-than-likely situations, aside from the anthro cast, ranging from alien invaders to viscious dinosaurs. To describe the story another way, I like to call it "20,0000 Leagues Under the Sea-meets-Planet of the Apes-meets-Star Wars." I hope it can live up to that description. Native is created entirely in real media (inks and markers), save for the text, which is type-set. It publishes through this site twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and will also be released in trade paperback format when the story arc is completed. It will be printed with a full-color cover, with black and white interior, through Lulu.com. Exclusive products, desktop backgrounds and other downloads will also be made available through this website.
