About the Comic

Five alchemists, set on obtaining godlike power, sacrifice and reshape their planet, killing all but themselves – but they got their wish. Generations later, the five races they created must defend their bizarre world from invasion by an alien species set on harnessing the power the alchemists discovered.

Native was conceived of in mid-2003 by artist and author R. Korol. Work has continued on the project around the author’s full-time work schedule and shares time with her other hobbies. Originally a cast of anthropomorphic characters, making their way by submarine on a primeval world, the story began to stagnate in the author’s mind. The original conclusion of the story was changed, then other aspects of the story started to make no sense, until it felt as though it were unraveling and decisions made became directions regretted.

In 2011, Korol resolved that in order to continue and have this project be a gratifying one, worthy of the effort, a major shift would have to be made. The setting, the characters, the plot – all aspects, it seems, are changing. It is the author’s hope that Native‘s readers will judge the changes as improvements, and that the story will flourish under this new direction.

New pages post Tuesday and Thursday around 1AM Eastern Time. The book will also be released in trade paperback format every 100 pages or so.
