The Characters of Native
Talis
Pronunciation: TAL-is
Gender: Female
Species: Fox/Doberman
Age (relative): 35
Talis, short for Digitalis, is our main character, oft-times narrator, of the story. She's captain of a stolen submarine, The Riptide, over 6 crew members of varying degrees of loyalty. |
Skullduggery
Pronunciation: skull-DUG-er-ee
Gender: Male
Species: Otter
Age: 45
Vicious and cunning, all at once berserk and sane, Skullduggery (or "Dug", as Talis calls him) is a crucial weapon and an able first mate. |
Meran
Pronunciation: mair-AN
Gender: Female
Species: Hare
Age: 25
None of Talis' crew goes without that certain passion for battle that's gotten them through the rough spots, and Meran is no exception. Herbivore only by genetics, she has an edge as sharp as any steel blade, and a coldness that few can crack. |
Serung
Pronunciation: seh-ROONG
Gender: Female
Species: Meerkat
Age: 25
If Skullduggery is the violent backbone of the crew, Serung is his technological equivalent. She feels as comfortable in tight spaces complete with wires as she did in the womb. Generally kept behind during combat, she often must sit and wait while her friends, and her cousin Deral, are placed in danger again and again. |
Deral
Pronunciation: dair-AHL
Gender: Male
Species: Meerkat
Age: 27
As silent in battle as Skullduggery is deadly, Deral often runs stealth for the crew's attacks on other vessels. He also will help his cousin, Serung, with any on-board projects. |
Tisker
Pronunciation: TISK-er
Gender: Male
Species: Jackal
Age: 30
If Talis had not known his brother beforehand, she probably would have slit Tisker's throat upon meeting him. He's as much as rascal as any one can be, and there is little doubt that Tisker is serving on board The Riptide for the sake of his own wallet. Not that there are others who are more noble. Tisker is generally aloof, but manages to make obnoxious company all the same. |
Glass
Pronunciation: GLAS
Gender: Male
Species: Kodiak bear
Age: 40
One of the first bears to serve on board a ship, Glass is only comfortable on board Yu-Nyun ships, as few ships built by natives can accommodate his hulking mass. He is swift and fearless in battle, but most notably, he is far more sly than typically given credit for, and often comes in handy when Talis is unable to negotiate a trade on her own behalf. |
