PAGE 3 (3 panels)

Panel 1. A closer shot of the city from page 1. With better lighting, we can now see that people move through the city through translucent walkways to protect them from the heat of the lava. A large bulbous ship prowls the streets, on some unknown task.
MOM (Storytime): The Time Before. Before we lived in the sky, the planet was closed shut, keeping us safely inside while we grew and developed. Hot steam taught us how to fly, and the rock taught us to be strong.

Panel 2. The view from inside an enclosed garden: The academy of science and innovation. Green plants contrast with the red light from the other side of the domed glass. A large statue reached up toward the high ceiling, towering above all those that go about their business or leisure below. In the statue's hand, a stone flame sprouts at his will. Floating blue orbs lend additional light to the park's visitors below. This was the way of things.
MOM (Storytime): Our society continued to expand, like a living geode, growing inward to fill the egg. But the wisest men heard whispers of stars and sky, and they dreamed of endless space. With their knowledge of alchemy and technology, they held the key to bring our people forth from the darkness.

Panel 3. Five alchemists gather around a dais in a pentagram-shaped laboratory. Their five corners each hold a computer control panel, and above them float the glowing sigils of the five elements.
MOM (Storytime): The five wise men, on the day they became gods, summoned the spirit of the planet, promising to make her strong in exchange for her power.
